CHEMICAL SOLVENTS

PGC promotes various categorize of chemical (oxygenated) solvents, including alcohols, ketones, esters and glycol ethers. Some of the many everyday items that depend upon chemical solvents include paints & coatings, thinners, adhesives & sealants, windscreen cleaners, inks and household products.

METHANOL

Methanol also known as Methyl Alcohol or wood spirit, is simplest alcohol with  one carbon atom. Its numerous applications include the production of acetic, acid, acetic anhydride, formaldehyde, MMA, use as solvents, thinners, denaturamnt for ethanol, producing biodiesel.

Methyl Isobutyl Ketone

Methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) is a colourless, medium boiling liquid, with a characteristic mild odour. It is miscible with the common solvents and diluents, but only slightly with water. MIBK has good solvent power for nitrocellulose, many natural and synthetic resins and can produce solutions of low viscosity and high solids content.

Butyl Glycol Ether

Butyl Glycol Ether (BGE) is a colourless, mild smelling liquid with a high boiling point. It is slightly hygroscopic and miscible with water at room temperature.  BGE is also miscible with numerous oxygenated solvents, as well as with aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons and oils; it has outstanding solvent power for many nature and synthetic resins, nitrocellulose and ethyl cellulose.

Isopropanol

Isopropanol (IPA) is a water-white mobile liquid with a mild (alcohol) odour. It is miscible in all proportions with water and many organic liquids and has good solvent power for many organic substances (gums shellac, alkaloids, and essential oils). IPA forms azeotropic mixtures with water and many organic liquids.

Ethyl Acetate

Ethyl acetate (EA) is a neutral colourless liquid with a pleasantly fruity odour. The main uses of EA are in the manufacture of nitrocellulose and cellulose acetate lacquers and as a solvent in adhesives and coatings.

Butyl Acetate

n-Butyl acetate (BA) is a neutral colourless liquid with a pleasantly odour. The excellent solvency power of Butyl acetate, its good volatility, high dilutability make it one of the most important medium-volality solvents.

S-Butyl Acetate

S-Butyl acetate (SBA) is a clear moderately volatile liquid with a characteristic ester odor. It is miscible in various solvents suc as alcohols, ketones, gylcol ethers, aromatic hydrocarbons and alihpatic hydrocarbons. It is widely use in the manufacturing and the processing of pants, coatings , printink inks, adhesives and other industrial uses.

Acetone

Acetone, also sometimes known as 2-propanone or dimethyl ketone (DMK), is a colourless, low boiling, easy pouring liquid with a characteristic odour. It is miscible in all proportions with water, alcohols, many hydrocarbons and other organic liquids. It has good solvent properties for vegetable and animal fats, cellulose, natural and synthetic resins and many other organic substances.

Methyl Ethyl Ketone

Methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) is a colourless, low viscosity liquid with a mild odour similar to that of acetone. It is completely miscible with many organic liquids, but miscible with water to only a limited extent. With natural and synthetic resins, MEK produces solutions with low viscosity and high solids content.

PM

PM also sometimes known as Propylene glycol methyl ether (PGME),  is a colourless, hygroscopic solvent with a volatility, viscosity and solvent power similar to those of ethylene oxide-based glycol ethers.

PMA

PMA also sometimes known as Propylene glycol methyl ether acetate(PGMEA), is a colourless, neutral propylene oxide-based glycol ether acetate with a mild odour and a volatility, viscosity and solvent power similar to those of ethylene glycol-based glycol ether acetates.

 Methylene Chloride

Methylene Chloride is an organochloride compound widely used as a solvent. It is colourless, neutral liquid heavier than water and non-flammable. Methylene Chloride is completely miscible with almost all organic solvents but only sparingly with water. It has excellent solvency power to most organic chemicals and materials.
